2015 National Older Adult Conference

Seven members from First Church are attending the National Older Adult Conference (NOAC) in Lake Junaluska, NC, next week (September 7-11): Auburn and Ruth Boyers, Brenda Fox, Larry Glick, Sharon Helbert, Rosie Martz, Pauline Miller, and Carolyn and Larry Seilhamer.

The theme of this year’s NOAC is “Then Jesus Told Them a Story.” The schedule is full of opportunities for fun, fellowship, worship, learning, and creative expression. It includes keynote speakers, hymn singing and musical programs, interest groups, service projects, recreational activities, tours, reunions, ice cream socials, relaxation, and more. The conference is “a Spirit-filled gathering of adults who love learning and discerning together, exploring God’s call for their lives and living out that call by sharing their energy, insight, and legacy with their families, communities, and the world.”

The setting is beautiful, in the heart of western North Carolina near Asheville. NOAC is held every other year on odd numbered years. The conference is planned by Church of the Brethren staff in Elgin, IL. Larry Glick has served for many years on the NOAC News Team along with David Sollenberger and Chris Brown. This team of three does a spectacular job of covering NOAC, providing humorous videos to keep everyone aware of upcoming activities and special events.
