First Church has been exploring the series “Unraveled: Seeking God When Our Plans Fall Apart” since Sunday June 16th. This worship series comes from Sanctified Art. Every Sunday we will explore a Bible passage, art image, and our experiences of unraveling and weaving. Accompanying devotional books and bookmarks (outlining the order of topics) are available at First Church for you to pick up. They will continue to be available through September 1st. This series will continue through September 1st.
One of the guiding ideas behind this series is that oftentimes situations that we experience as being “unraveled” in our lives are often the materials that God works with to bring about a new creation in our lives and communities. This is like an old jacket that is re-worked to fit into a new patchwork blanket. We will look at Old and New Testament accounts that reflect this theme, from the conversion of Saul to the moment of Sarah’s laughter. So what is unraveling? What might God be weaving? Join First Church to explore these questions of faith, experience, and biblical witness. Finally, we are asking you to think of stories and reflections from your own life on this theme.
