Vacation Bible School 2019
Harrisonburg First Church of the Brethren and Sunrise Church of the Brethren are teaming up this year for Vacation Bible School. We are very excited as we come together and learn “Who Is My Neighbor?” During this exciting week we will Learn to Love Like Jesus!
Day 1 – Mark 12:28-34 Love God and Your Neighbor
Jesus speaks of the importance of loving God and loving neighbors.
Day 2 – Luke 10:25-37 Who Is My Neighbor?
Jesus tells a story of a traveler who is wounded by robbers. The one who stops to help, who shows
mercy, is who we are to imitate.
Day 3 – Genesis 26:12-33 Live Peacefully
Isaac’s neighbors become jealous of his prosperity. Isaac moves to a new location so that he will not be
in conflict with his neighbors. The king recognizes that God is with Isaac.
Day 4 – Luke 14:15-24 Everyone is Invited!
Jesus tells a story about a banquet to which those who are invited do not attend. Instead, the servants
go out on the streets and invite those who had originally been excluded.
Day 5 – Acts 2:42-47; 4:32-37 Share With Others
The early church worships and prays together. They eat together and share material goods with those
who need help, making sure that everyone’s needs are met.
* On Friday at 8:05 families of those registered for VBS will be invited to attend a closing program. An ICE CREAM SOCIAL will follow!
